Temporary pages describing upcoming events and listing new books use labels with in the lower right corner of postings to create the links in the sidebar menu. Information on temporary pages becomes out-of-date merely through the passage of time. When the information becomes out-of-date, temporary pages are deleted.
Creating label links on the sidebar requires setting up the sidebar to receive these links.
Once this this done, then adding labels to postings automatically creates links in the sidebar. This method of creating links has the advantage of being quick and easy. This system has two disadvantages.
- Only one list of labels can be created. There is no way to have two sets of labels for different types of postings.
- The list of labels can only be alphabetical or number of postings order.
*** Setting up the sidebar to receive labels as links. ***

On the Main Tabs, click Template.
Click Add a Page Element.
A new window pops up.

Beneath Labels in the second column, click Add to Blog.
The pop-up window changes.

Change the title from Labels to What's New?
Click Save Changes.
The pop-up window closes.

Below Add a Page Element is the What's new? element.
This an element can be moved below other elements by placing the cursor arrow on the element, hold down the left mouse button and move the mouse down the list of elements. The element will follow. When the element is in the desired spot, release the mouse button.
This element will not appear on the public side of the Web site until postings are made with labels.
*** Adding labels to postings ***
Create a new posting by clicking Posting on the Main Tabs to retrieve a blank posting.

Type in the Title.
In the message area type in the announcement for an upcoming event or list of new books.
In the box on the lower right, type the label.
In this example, "New Mysteries in August" is the title and "New Mysteries" is the label.
If the labels had also said "New Mysteries in August", "New Mysteries in September", etc., then each posting would have a separate label. The end result would be a very long and messy alphabetical list on interfiled upcoming events and new books.
I recommend using a few broad categories as labels: Upcoming Events, New Books, New Videos, etc.
If your library has dozens of programs and hundreds of new books ech month, then break the categories into a limited number of smaller categories.
- New Books can be broken into New Mysteries, New Romances, New Sci-fi, etc.
- Upcoming programs can be broken into Children's Programs, Young Adult Programs, Adult Programs, etc.
On the Main Tabs, click Posting.
Click Edit Posts for a list of all postings.

- On the far left-side, click the label of the announcements to be deleted. This displays all announcements with that label.
- Find the outdated postings and click Delete on the far right of the line.
- Then click Yes to confirm deletion.
