Creating Web pages

On the Main Tabs, click Posting to display a blank Web page.

These instructions cover creating text in the Compose tab, not the Edit HTML tab. These tabs are on the left side above the toolbar.

Titles can be added in one of two ways. Both example are shown above.

  1. The small light brown title above was typed in the line labeled Title. This will produce a title in an automatice size and format. Automatic formatting can be set in the Template.
  2. The larger, crimson title was typed at the top of the message area. Titles in the message area can be changed using the toolbar at the top.
The rest of the Web page is typed in the large message area. Above the message area is a toolbar for changing fonts (i.e., look of the text), adding hyperlinks to other Web pages, aligning text and graphics, making numbered and bulleted lists, making quote blocks, checking spelling, adding images, adding movies and removing all formatting.

*** Toolbar ***

To make any changes to fonts always highlight the text first, then make the change or make the change then type the text.

Click the down arrow to change the font. Blogger offers eight different fonts: Arial, Courier, Georgia, Lucinda Grande, Times, Trebuchet, Verdana and Wingding (i.e., Wingdings).

Click the down arrow to change the font size.

Click "b" to bold, "i" to italicize, "T" to color fonts.

Click the appropriate square to align the text. The alignments are in the following order: left, center, right and justify. Justify means lines in paragraphs are even on both ends.

For creating numbered list or bulleted lists. Since people do not like to read long paragraphs on computer screens, I recommend using lists whenever possible.

Click the Browse button to open a window to finding the desired image. Double click the image.

The image will appear at the top of Blogger's Web page. The image can be dragged down the page or cutting from the top of the page and pasting where I want it.

Preview, on the far right, supposedly shows pages as they wll appear on the Web. This preview is approximately accurate.

Labels for this post, on the far right, are for announcement pages.
Show all displays all labels being used.

Clicking Post Options displays on the far right the date and time for this posting. The current date and time are automatically shown. Changing the date and time rearranges the order postings are listed on Web pages. Blogs automatically show the latest posting according to the date and time on the blog. Changing a date several years in the future forces the blog to always show this posting as the "home page".

Publish Post makes the page public for everyone to see.

Save Now saves a draft of the page, but does not make it public. Drafts can be made public be clicking Publish Now.
